| Business Description: | Lime Ridge Farm was founded in 1964 by Jim O’Connor, Sr. He was Kathleen O’Connor Knappitsch’s dad and thanks to the “horsy” inspiration of his daughter he bought land and began a horse business in what was then McKinney, Texas. (now Fairview, Texas) Jim was not a “practical” horseman but studied thoroughbred bloodlines and became a breeder, standing two top stallions in Texas. In 1970 Jim O’Connor was the President of the Texas Thoroughbred Breeders. Lime Ridge Farm was named because of the Lime Rock Ridge bordering the East side of the farm. The O’Connor family, obviously of Irish decent, liked the connotation of Lime = Green= (Shamrock) and Irish descent. Jim O’Connor’s horses’s prodigy raced all over the country, from Saratoga Springs, New York to California. His racing colors were obviously green and white! Kathleen O’Connor grew up riding her dad’s ex racehorses and retraining them to be horses for dressage and jumping. Her dream, always, was to have an International Dressage Stables on her dad’s farm. After living and training 23 years abroad she is happy to now own and operate her beautiful 28+ acres of coastal Bermuda pastures including her new 18,000 sq. ft. covered arena. Living abroad, Kathy strived to learn and teach Dressage. She welcomes any newcomers to board their horses at Lime Ridge Farm. |
