Circle R Ranch

Located in beautiful central Minnesota, Circle R Ranch is a unique summer horse camp that offers a rich experience for kids ages 7 through 17. The Ranch is an 800-plus acre working ranch; crops are grown consisting of corn, oats, and hay. Although the 200 plus herd of horses is the main attraction, there are many other animals for the children's enjoyment. Dogs, cats, turkeys, llamas, and buffalo are just a few of the animals around the ranch. The summer horse camp season runs June through August of each calendar year. Our facilities are rustic, but clean and comfortable. The main bunkhouse sports a walkout basement recreation room, dining room, and kitchen. The bunkhouse and additional cabins house campers and counselors. The swimming pool and tennis/basketball court add to the summer enjoyment and are just around the corner from the bunkhouse and corral. Meals are served cafeteria-style and everyone helps himself or herself to as much as they want, including seconds. Without a doubt the trail rides are the most enjoyable activity on the ranch. Miles of trails ensure different scenery each day. The rolling hills and beautiful woods make for interesting riding. Imagine a trail with rolling hills and beautiful landscapes ending with a breathtaking, hilltop view. Imagine singing songs around a campfire while the sun sets beyond the horizon and your horse grazes nearby; so close you can actually reach out and give her a pat on the neck. Imagine sleeping in covered wagons, listening to the night breeze and the bugles of elk close by. This is what campers will experience during the overnight campout that happens midweek. One of the goals at Circle R Ranch is to teach youngsters the safe way to ride and handle horses. Counselors give basic instruction on horsemanship, and each child learns to groom and saddle a horse. Horses are assigned per the child's riding capability for the coming week. Our staff members are well-qualified people of college age with the requirements to see that each young wrangler gets the most out of his or her stay at the Ranch.
