Set on a tranquil 125-acre farm north of Toronto, Women in the Company of Horses offers day workshops to women interested in learning the language of Equus. Based on the methods of Canadian “horse whisperer” Chris Irwin and hosted by Wolff Knipping and Certified Gold instructor Anne Gage, this extraordinary technique teaches participants how to develop a relationship with a horse based on mutual respect and trust. Learn how to read the animal’s body language. Experience the magical moment when your horse lets out a yawn, lowers his head: Translation in horse speak: “I trust you.” The clinic begins in the morning with a welcome snack of tea, coffee and out-of-the oven muffins, where you will become acquainted with the other women in the group. Everyone has different experiences with horses: some have had difficult times and are taking the clinic because they want to reconnect and rekindle the love affair. Some women have had no experience with horses and want to learn the techniques of natural horsemanship. The day is spent in the paddock, as well as in the arena, with the horses learning how they relate to each other in the herd. In order to understand the horse, you have to think like one. And once that happens, you will appreciate and be able to understand what it means when their ears go back or stand straight up. And that tail is used more than for swishing flies away! A horse uses its body to communicate its fears and joy. At the end of the day we will do a Meditation-Queit Mind Quiet Horse- a very basic breathing exercise you can use anywhere-anytime.
