| Business Description: | Situated on a hill overlooking the surrounding countryside, world famous mountains and romantic sunsets, The Colorado Horse Park offers the opportunity to enjoy the tradition and romance of the horse. The vision for the park is to become a leading tourist destination for families and horse and history lovers. Plans for expansion include a museum of the Western Horse, a Living History Museum, National Archive of Western Materials, Gun Museum, an Equidome, a wildlife refuge and more! The Colorado Horse Park has been actively involved in preserving open space and creating a place where families can enjoy the history and heritage of the west. Currently the park is an international equestrian competition center with more than 30 events scheduled each year. Among the most popular ticketed events are three grand prix show jumping competitions and Halloween with Horses, the fall festival that has become a family favorite and draws more than 10,000 people. In addition, numerous horse shows are held nearly every weekend in the summer-- spectators are welcome and admission and parking are free. The show grounds at The Colorado Horse Park are state of the art and include 11 arenas with high quality footing, three barns with 300 permanent stalls, as well as space to hold tents and portable stalls so that more than 1,000 horses can compete on the grounds. Vendor areas, bleachers and RV parking are among the amenities available on the grounds. In addition, a western complex with additional parking offers cattle pens and facilities for western competitions. Plans are underway to upgrade this complex to include concession areas, grand stands and much more. In 2006, Olympic gold medalist David O’Connor designed brand new cross-country courses for use during three-day events and horse trials. Numerous schooling days are also held throughout the year, allowing public access to these world-class tracks and obstacles. Approximately 100 horses call The Colorado Horse Park their permanent home. Several businesses operate their training and coaching operations at the horse park. Among the facilities for the boarders and trainers are two indoor arenas, pastures and paddocks, tack rooms with lockers, office space and more. Over the years, The Colorado Horse Park has hosted numerous international competitions, including the North American Young Riders Championships, U.S. Equestrian Combined Driving Singles Championships, American Grand Prix Association grand prix and two-star three-day events. The Colorado Horse Park is recognized the world over for its ability to produce high-quality international events. There are many ways to get involved at The Colorado Horse Park—as a volunteer, member, horse show participant and more. Please visit our other websites pages for more information on these programs. |
