Dr. Ronald Emond founded Candlewood Equine in 1985 as a solo equine practitioner providing ambulatory veterinary services in Connecticut and New York. His growing expertise in theriogenology led to the expansion of a reproduction clinic at the present location in Bridgewater, Connecticut. This facility provides veterinary services for the breeding of mares and stallions, and also offers advanced fertility techniques such as embryo recovery and transfer, and a complete frozen semen program from collection to storage and world-wide distribution. Candlewood Equine is a full-service veterinary practice capable of handling outpatient and in-hospital work, including: * Dentistry * Recumbent castrations * Extended medical treatment * Lay-ups. The ambulatory part of the practice services approximately 1800 horses. Scheduled services, performed at your home or barn, include: * Primary care * Wellness and preventive health * Lameness and pre-purchase exams * Artificial inseminations * Breeding and foal exams * Respiratory workups * Ophthalmic exams * Routine surgery services * Dentistry Diagnostically, we perform blood work, radiography and ultrasound exams. Our emergency services include but are not limited to: * Colic * Infections * Assisted delivery of foals * Acute illnesses * Laceration repairs.
