| Business Description: | The Ontario Equestrian Federation is a not-for-profit sport governing office that provides education, leadership and support to individuals, associations and companies in Ontario’s horse community. We provide our members with a variety of services, programs, and benefits and we represent their interests to the general public, affiliated organizations and to varying levels of government. In short – the OEF stands for all things equine. The OEF is proud to represent a diverse membership base including people of all ages, disciplines and interests. It represents over 17,000 Individual members, 40 equine breed and discipline associations, 150 companies and 125 horse facilities. The OEF Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers who are passionate about their roles and invaluable for the expertise they provide. The OEF offers its members a variety of services, programs and benefits … including WHOA!, the official newsletter; RIDE ONtario, a riding reward program; Rider, Trail Guide, Instructor and Coaching certification programs; ongoing education during a three-day Conference full of seminars, clinics, and a trade show; over 200 pages of OEF news, current events, competitions, coach lists, and more on the official website, a daily planner which allows for reference to individual equine activities; and liability and accident insurance coverage. Committed to youth, the OEF offers five bursaries annually to Junior members wishing to pursue an equine career and/or further their competitive goals, and collaborates with a community service organization to place at-risk children in an equine environment where they are able to learn discipline and enhance their self esteem through animal-assisted therapy. Instrumental in the establishment of safety standards and the passage of legislation that requires the use of approved helmets by youth while on horseback, the OEF strives to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
