National Horse Protection League

NHPL exists to protect horses--from slaughter, abandonment, dangerous working, breeding and racing conditions and irresponsible owners. We are committed to: * bringing an end to slaughter and the export of horses for human consumption * exploring ways to make racing safer and healthier for horses and riders * promoting other laws or regulations designed to keep horses safe or put an end to abusive practices like steroid use, soring or extreme endurance races * educating owners on the best and most responsible ways to take care of their horses and how to find new homes for them when they can no longer do so. NHPL: The go-to source for all things horse NHPL is a gathering place to share your love of and experience with horses. We have original and visitor-generated content devoted to the more personal side of horse ownership: stories and advice (horse of the month, health care, cool products), messages from equine professionals (riders, trainers, breeders, veterinarians), adoption and rescue (animal bios and contacts), links to other horse sites and fund-raising opportunities.
