Business Description:

Star Ridge Stables has opened a brand new facility located conveniently between Hilton Head and Savannah. Please consult our "directions" page for directions. Atmosphere and Facility Conveniently located between Bluffton, South Carolina and Savannah Georgia, the Star Ridge Stables facility rests on a beautiful 45 acres. Several large oak trees decorate the grounds, while peaceful sounds of nature surround the facility. The brand new 40- stall barn is designed with you and your horse in mind. Every stall is a roomy 14’x12’. Every stall has a window to the outside, to let a cool breeze into your stall. Each stall door has an open grid front to add to your horse’s comfort with increasing air circulation. There is plenty of room for you and your horse. There are four wings of stalls in the barn. Each wing has ten stalls, two tack rooms and a hot-and-cold wash rack. You will be sharing a 14’x12’ tack room with only four other horse enthusiasts. In addition to the four indoor wash racks, there are dry-grooming stalls located in the barn. Also there are four more cold-water wash racks located outside the barn. The facility had many other amenities. There is a large lounge, with kitchenette and a patio. There is also a pond for summer swimming. Safety and Security The safety of your horse and rider is very important to us. You’ll sleep better at night knowing that Star Ridge Stables has some great safety precautions. There are telephones centrally located in both barn buildings. Stella Prescott is certified in Large Animal Emergency Rescue. There is an apartment in the barn where staff members live, meaning 24 hour, seven day a week supervision. The staff performs night checks to ensure the wellness of the horses. The majority of the facility is fenced making it extremely difficult for the animals to escape. We also have evacuation plans in the event of a large scale emergency. Pastures and Arenas Star Ridge Stables has 16 pastures available for your horse’s turnout time. We know it is important for horses to have time to be horses, so they will be given plenty of “playtime” on a daily basis. Every pasture is fertilized throughout the year to keep the grass growing for your horse. All of our pastures are over-seeded in the fall with winter ryegrass to ensure that your horse will have green grass to eat even in the dead of winter. Our pastures are also irrigated for optimum growth during those hot, dry summer months. There three spacious arenas available for riding at the facility. Hunter ring 1 is 160' x 230 and is lighted. Hunter ring 2 is 160' x 210'. Dressage ring is 110' x 260'. There is plenty of room to work your horse without being cramped. They are irrigated to keep the dust to a minimum and regularly maintained to offer a consistent footing the horse can be confident in. Feeding Program Every horse has different nutritional needs. Each horse is evaluated for health, body type, and workload. The horse is then fed on a program tailored to its needs. The feed is purchased directly from the feed mill to insure freshness. In addition to quality feed, Star Ridge Stables offers superior hay. Timothy or Timothy/Orchard grass hay is fed to the horses. Alfalfa hay is also kept on hand for horses requiring a higher protein diet. Feeding the upper level hay has many benefits to your horse. The horse was originally designed to digest grasses not large quantities of grain. By offering higher quality hay less grain can be fed to the horse, which is actually healthier for the digestive system.
