Business Description:

The Pinto Family encompasses more than 14,000 members and 136,000 horses, ponies and miniatures. Current membership entitles members to the annual official PtHA Rule Book and special member rates for most association services, including registration of horses, subscriptions and advertising rates for the official magazine. PtHA members also receive free monthly e-mail newsletters, access to ePinto and a logo decal to show your Pinto spirit. Youth and Amateur members can apply for scholarships to use toward college tuition. This versatile association offers many avenues of involvement for members. From riding your horse in the show ring or out on the trail, PtHA members can receive awards for spending time with their Pintos. With two international shows and an annual convention, PtHA members gather together several times a year to make memories and enjoy their Pintos! Showing There are more than 350 association-approved shows internationally that members compete at yearly. Many are multi-judged shows offering multiple points or back-to-back individual shows. The annual Pinto World Championship Horse Show, which takes place in early summer, offers competition for all types and classifications of Pintos, as well as for all styles of riding. Don’t forget about the Novelty Costume competition and the Versatility Showcases. The Pinto Congress and Futurity Horse Show takes place each fall offering a variety of classes including Slots, dual-approved classes and the Kirkbride Reining Derby. Lucrative and exciting high-point awards are offered in several divisions of competition. National awards are given to Youth, Amateur and Open competitors based on points earned throughout the year. On The Trail If showing isn’t your thing, this is the program for you! The On the Trail program rewards riders for spending time with their best friend, their Pinto. Time can be spent trail riding, driving, participating in parades, drill teams, therapeutic riding, enjoying riding lessons, or any other non-competitive activity. You may earn double hours for time spent riding in national and state parks, grasslands or historic areas, as recognized by the U.S. or Canadian National Parks Service. Open Competition Activities Program (OCAP) Developed to allow Pinto members who might not have the opportunity to earn national points and awards, the Open Competition Activities Program allows participants to earn points at OCAP approved shows that will go toward OCAP specific awards. The program is open to any Pinto, but does not include Amateur competition. Miss Pinto of America Each year, during the Pinto World Championship Horse Show, young ladies between the ages of 18 and 25 represent various PtHA charters to compete for the coveted title of Miss Pinto of America. During the contest they are judged on western horsemanship, English equitation, horse knowledge, appearance, personality, modeling, photogenic, personal interview and public speaking. Once crowned, Miss Pinto of America shall reign for one year, promoting the Pinto around the country. PtHA Annual Convention Each spring, PtHA members come together to discuss and vote on improvements that need to be made to the association. More than just a business meeting, the PtHA Annual Convention offers plenty of time to socialize with other members and explore Oklahoma City. The Hall of Fame Reception takes place during the convention, where nominees to the four Hall of Fames, including the equine industry’s first Judges Hall of Fame, are inducted and recognized for their outstanding service. The convention also hosts the Year End Awards Banquet, recognizing Youth, Amateurs and Pintos for their accomplishments in the show program.
