A Sweet Deal!

If you go to the Neigh Cool site here on Equestrian Life, and you are one of the first three to message him on that site, Keary is going to send you a free one. It is worth $70. It is a great product and you might win one if you are quick on the draw!

Good Luck!

Horse Health Readers,

I got to see a great use of technology yesterday and wanted to share it with you. I watched while Kingpin was imaged thermographically. The images will be forwarded to a certified veterinarian and clinical farrier to consult and provide their expertise. The images will come back in a report that is useful to both the owner, trainer, rider and vet. The ability to move into the science of lameness or identify issues early on using this technology is exciting. It will be one of the tools my company will use going forward to bring awareness to the equine community and working with the vet community, hopefully assist in early detection that will improve treatments and outcomes for horses.

One of the coolest uses of the technology is to gain awareness of saddle fit issues and to help mate the saddle correctly to the horse.
It stands to reason that if the interface is as comfortable as possible, then performance will be enhanced. How would you like to run a race in shoes that are too tight? It has to be a consideration. I look forward to seeing the report and learning what 30 minutes and the proper application of technology can teach me about Kingpin's current health.

I am always interested in what is new and working out there, so please share what you've seen and how it has impacted your horse's health.

Beloved Friends at Horse Health,

Just wishing you all the most wonderful Holiday season possible. You have made this year extraordinary for me as I have loved connecting across time zones and lot's of real estate to meet you. I know that this is the virtual world, but I sense that there are many connections here that will move beyond "friends" to friends. I hope so.

If I can ever be of service to you or offer anything of value, please don't hesitate to contact me. It is my priviledge to have been welcomed into this horse world and I have loved the learning that is shared here.

Please make the group what you need in order to serve the horses that we love

May you all be blessed richly in this season with happiness and health for you and your loved ones, both 2 and 4 legged.

Talk to you soon!

Jay

I have a Quater horse cross who has bad temperment problems. I have tryed different feeds and supplements with my horse and only one feed has worked. But once I take him off the feed and put him on oats for spring and summer he has worse temperment issues. I have always used oats in the spring and summer and this year he has worse temperment problems.
We have sperated him into a smaller herd which he likes and his temperment has decreased alittle but is still VERY aggresive towards humans, dogs, cats, pigs, and other horses.
When at shows he shows no sign of aggresion towards anyone or anything, I don't know if this means anything about or with this problem but he is a show horse. :)
Any Ideas on what could help him with this issue?
Thanks.

My Heart My Horse - My Heart Broke Today

I called the herd for their morning meal.
He didn't come and the fear in my heart was immediately real.

He was always there, the head of the herd.
The other horses didn't come for the grain that was offered.
Those equines had a look in their eyes that something was wrong.
I knew in a moment that my pride and joy might be gone.

My heart broke that day.
As I saw Zip in the spot where he lay.

Zippos High Caliber was still beautiful, shiny, and warm.
I'd spent the night before washing and trimming in the barn.
He was silky and clean and ready to show.
All I could do was hug and hold him crying out “no!”

August 1st is a day I will never forget.
Blast the drought, the dust and the humidity that let
my best buddy fall to asthma, that dreadful disease.
I knew in my heart that I couldn't ask “God, please!”

He was gone in his prime and loved by all.
No more trophies or championships or figuring his way out of a stall.
Zip gave his heart in whatever he did.
Be it reining, halter, trail, games, or teaching a kid.

He had almost human-like qualities like no other.
We sadly buried him right beside his dear mother.
Two beloved horses laying side by side.
Thank you to all who rode them, loved them, and cried.

The healing process has barely begun.
I'll never forget the reining patterns that he run.
His speed and his quickness, the collection, the spins.
It was his pride, his heart, his versatility that helped him win.

Now as I stare at his retired bridle and special bit,
those horseshoes, the blankets each with a championship year on it,
I find my heart heavy and sometimes so sad.
I do have Zip's black sister and know that I should be glad.

There forever will be a fondness in my heart
and know that our souls will never be far apart.
I'll look up to heaven and listen for hoofbeats so fast
and know Zip and Blackie are galloping through the grass.

Rest in peace my beautiful red bay.
A piece of my heart went with you that day.

This looks interesting, our gelding has some issues and has had surgery on his front legs due to founder issues in the past. We had a great vet that saved his life. He's like a new horse now! Looking foward to getting advice when needed.

k well my horse has these weird bumps on his back and his half sister has the same thing on her leg near her hooves,... when we first noticed the bumps and when touching them he would only flintch and now when we try and touch them or put cream on it he begins to buck... he has done that twice now and the vet will only be out on october 29th... does anyone have any ideas of what it could be...they are small haired balls on his back which are small and close togther ... we only noticed them when we were rubbing his back before putting on the saddle... you no, to check for anything... it does seem to bother him alot when under saddle... so i stopped ridding him for over a week now... any ideas?

My 16 yo shetland/mini pony has Anhidrosis. He is on One AC and that does really help. But Im always open to natural supplments that could possibly help that. So if anyone knows of anything then please let me know. :)
