I own 2 OTTB's and they are wonderful horses! I hope more people will open their hearts and barns to adopting or buying one of them. They need new jobs and a happy life.

I have 2 OTTBS. 9 year old chestnut mare with a rediculous track record of 83 starts with only 7 wins and a 6 year old gelding with 36 starts under his belt and only 2 wins. Bindi is my mare, raced as Polar Phlox, and her daddy is Yarrow Brae, raced in Belmont stakes with Mike Smith on board!! only got 12th though. But still he was there! Her mom is Polar Capp, not so famous but still makes up half of my baby girls genetics so i had to include her. Bindi has Man O War, War Admiral, Bold Ruler and a few other well known racers in her blood. She also carries a bad attitude! Honor was raced as Orna. He is Canada bred and sired by Tethra who has a much better record than his son. Tethra had 8 starts winning 5 of them and placing either second or third in the other 3! His mom is Heavenley Lark and his grat grandsire on his mom's side is Seattle Slew! He looks just like his daddy and has a puppy dog personality. Both go english or western. Bindi does flat work in both and also runs barrels and by next spring will start working over cross-rails. Honor also does flat work in both but is far from being a barrel horse. NO SPEED IN HIM AT ALL! he HATES running. But he will begin jumping hopefully by fall if not he will start wtih bindi in the spring. They are also mine and my husbands trail horses.

My trainer buys off the track Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds and then we trainer them in hunters :)
Currently we even have one that learned dressage and shes amazing at it :) its alot of work re-training them but when they get there its amazing to see how they move!

I've got an off track Standardbred! Does that count ;-) He is amazing! When I let him go on the beach he goes REALLY fast in TROT! My friends follow me in gallop :-)

I do have a race bred TB as well but she never raced. She is soooo calm! Almost don't believe she is a TB. Totally different from my standerdbred who raced. He is scared of everything...

She has got really good lines but because she was born with only one eye they sold her to the slaughter export where this lady saved her and bought her back. I got her from this lady (forever grateful!)

My TB is going to be an awesome trail horse because she is so calm and fearless. But she can also be really active and really run (of course, shes bred to do that ha ha) and she loves to jump! I'm going to teach her to jump when she is ready. She already jumped the fence twice (grass was greener on the other side) I think she is the perfect horse, calm but really active!

She is very dominant though. I do natural horsemanship with her so she listens to me. But she does challenge me almost every day :-) I think it also has to do with the fact she is getting in that adolescent age :-) plus she is a mare (the lady's can be typical... I know because I am one ha ha)

Is combination, calm but active typical TB? This is my first TB so I don't know. I love it though!

Hey all! I just got (on the 25th of October) a 3 year old OTTB who is on his way to the show ring! He is out of Alajwad and Binndiana and has the blood of Storm Cat, Storm Bird, Secretariat and Northern Dancer flowing in his veins! He has the most beautiful flowing gaits and in only 2 weeks of training has excelled far beyond the 5 years olds at the barn! He and I make an fantastic team, or so I am told by my trainer and friends! Today my trainer has me trot him over poles and he acted as if he had been doing it his whole life! I love him so much! His name is Whatchadointonight!

I am new to this site and this group. I own a 5 yr old TB mare. She is not the first horse I have owned but she is certainly the most fun!! She only ran one race and her former owner decided not to race her any more. She is so smart and has such a sweet personality. I am now learning to jump on her. And she loves to jump!! She is a bit forward but I am working on that. Oh, and she is gorgeous too!!
