For anyone getting back into horses after some time away. Stories to share of hay-days, current frustrations and new out looks on riding again.
It's nice that your husband got into it with you. Horses should be a family thing. My husband only likes "iron horses". My one son is allergic, the other is maybe ready to take lessons. I keep hoping for a riding buddy.
I don't know if I can switch. Man, do I really miss jumping and showing! But I am SO hard on myself for not being able to do anywhere close to what I use to do. Do I need a different horse or do I change riding styles until I can get a little more in shape?
Dunno if you need this response, but, from one is not switching: be patient with yourself.
I still wish I could do some simple hunter over fences, but I can't afford a decent horse to do the job, and don't have the time to train if I did. I am for now being content to trail ride and perhaps try a little western pleasure to work up to something that grabs my spirit like jumping did. I think the key is to take lessons in something, anything, to keep yourself fresh and learning.
