Valerie Kanavy, 3-time World Cup champion endurance racer rides Arabians. I interviewed her for my new book, Women Riders Who Could... and Did: life Stories of Top Level Equestriennes. See my 3-min. video book trailer at YouTube (search at kkarma100). And look at my website at www.HuckleHillPress.com to see an excerpt and testimonials.

Hi everyone!! I just got my first Arabian before Christmas!! She is 11 years old. She is about 100 pounds underweight and her feet haven't been trimmed in the last year or so. She also wasn't wormed in over a year and her vaccine status is questionable :( On the bright side, she is now being fed the best hay and grain I can find, just had her shoes off and feet trimmed yesterday and is being spoiled as best I can :)

I have been on her three or four times and while she is a sweatheart on the ground and follows me around inside or out, she is the most pigheaded horse under saddle! lol.

I am looking for friends on here, so if you wouldn't mind having another Arabian lover friend, please add me!!!

Sara

Hiya Sara. Congratulations on your new mare. Arabians are amazing horses. Something to keep in mind with arabians, because they are such emotional animals, they also hold a grudge for a long time. Be very patient with her, take your time. If she has ever been abused and neglected she will remember for a while. Do not be discouraged, because once you and her have that bond it will be unbreakable...... she will be there for you no matter what :) I am always looking for an arabian fan to chat with :)

Hi Sara i have two Arabs. one mare 2.5 yrs old and one gelding 23 yrs old. i have the the same struggle you had. i leased my gelding out to the wrong person and he came back (just before X-mas) about 100-175 lbs underweight! he was a healthy horse with NO health problems just 6 months ago. In addition to his weight he came back with only 3! bottom front teeth and several more missing i had him floated and he is still way under weight but is slowly gaining it back! good luck and have fun with your Arab!

Anna - that is so sad :( I hope he puts weight on quickly for you and things turn out all right. At least it is getting warmer out so he wont be spending so much energy keeping warm and can concentrate it into weight and muscle gain. Poor guy.

Its kinda frusterating because he is gaining lots of muscle but not really any fat so his legs look very nice but his ribs and spine are still Very visible

It takes time. Gem is finally starting to look really nice and it has been over 3 months of good hay and grain and some light work.

Hello Arabian Lovers. I am currently looking for an egyptian arabian mare or gelding of any colour, preferebly age 4-15, 14.2hh-15.3hh I am looking for a horse than can be ridden by an intermediate rider, a horse that bonds easily with people and loves the outdoors. I am prodominatly searching for a horse I can learn dressage on but will deffinatly work with a horse that is well started under saddle with rider. If anyone has a horse for sale that fits this criteria please please let me know.

Hi.. I am new to this group and love arabs.. Unfortunately we have to sell our arabian mare who belongs to my daughter since she really wants to get into western pleasure horse and with the economy the way it is, I can not afford to buy her another horse without selling something. She has been used as a brood mare and has incredible bloodlines which is why we got her in the first place but now we are getting out of breeding. I really want her to go to a place that will take advantage of her lines, or one that would like to break her and use her to her full potential. She is a really sweet mare but does need a calm confident personal that she can bond to.. You can see her ad on dreamhorse here: Visit Link

I am negotiable on the price and also willing to trade for a western pleasure horse..

Thanks so much
Linda
