Namaste: (The spirit in me honors the spirit in you!) My name is Robyn. I live in the Okanogan Valley. I have been a Reiki Healer/Practitioner for 12 years and Reiki Master for 5 years.I offer Equine Reiki healings, attunements and workshops(1,2,3 Days)I also offer a combination Reiki attunement for human and horse. Reiki is beneficial to riders, for all the same reasons you might use it on your horse. Once you are taught the Reiki method and put it into practice, a deeper bond between you and your horse is another benefit. Equine Reiki helps balance your horse physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. Working with the chakras to balance their natural energy, Reiki brings clarity, peace and relaxation and can help reduce or eliminate pain. Because Reiki is an energy balancing modality, it will never harm your horse. • Reiki can help release and heal your horses' emotions, especially if your horse has emotional issues due to a traumatic situation such as neglect, an abusive past, or a riding accident. (Reiki is often used to help animals who have come from rescues.) • For behavioral issues such as nervousness or hyperactivity, Reiki can help your horse relax and reduce their stress and anxiety. • If your horse is sick or injured, Reiki can help your horse self-heal more quickly. • Reiki can help bring comfort and be a great compliment to conventional treatment if your horse is facing an illness. • Encourage more suppleness and flexibility • Improve flow in walk/trot/canter/gallop • Focus before an event • Reach peak performance • Increase energy levels • Accelerate injury rehabilitation or recovery from illness • Relieve pain • Ease anxiety and nerves • Reduce stress • Assist the horse to relax and/or calm down • Encourage more balanced behavior • Pacify prior to unusual situations eg travel, sales or new environment • Release fear present from poor treatment or cruelty • Alleviate negative energy or emotions • Ease depression • Develop confidence • Assist with relaxation • Settle new broodmares • Provide space and time for the horse just to heal • Give comfort • Help prior to, during and after bereavement • If your horse is generally healthy, Reiki will just allow your horse relax and be happy in the moment. Reiki can be used to complement traditional medical practices, but should not be used as a replacement for proper veterinary care. Please feel free to call or email me at anytime.I do travel within the Okanogan area. Namaste

The Ethical Priciples of Reiki

The Reiki Principles: The main purpose of Reiki practice was not only to heal diseases, but also to have a positive mind and healthy body so that people would experience joy in life. Dr. Usui recommended that putting these principles into practical use in daily life would have its own rewards:

Just for today, I will not anger.
Just for today, I will not worry.
Honor your parents,teachers and elders.
Earn your living honestly.
Show gratitude for everything.

Just for today:
When you live in the present, you're aware of what's happening within and around you. To make thoughts present-centered, think about 'now' rather than the past or future. Live in the present moment to enjoy today.

Do not anger:
Anger is a destructive emotion tied to expectations about what should have happened. It hurts us and others. With compassion, we can consciously choose not to be angry. When we shift our point-of-view, we can address issues in harmonious ways. Realize that anger and other selfish emotions like resentment, hatred, envy are harmful, avoid such emotions.

Do not worry:
Worry is often our usual response to something we think is going to happen in the future (not the present) but often doesn't happen. Some people put themselves through weeks of agony only to have what they thought MIGHT happen not. Struggling to control a situation just creates an energy cycle which makes things worse. Choose not to worry, just for today.

Honor your parents,teachers and elders:
As our consciousness is raised we realize that we are part of the Universal Life Force and begin to feel more connected to everything and understand that we are all connected; what we do effects others. We come to realize there is no place for negative behaviors on this planet and all (people, animals, plants) should be respected and honored. We all have a role to play and should be valued, respected and treated with kindness. We need to be grateful for our many blessings even when we think that life is difficult. There will always be ups and downs, sometimes we will be happy, sometimes sad, but every experience we have had has made us who we are.

Earn your living honestly:
This refers to all the work you do from cooking a meal for your family to meditating or reading inspirational books. We confuse what we do with who we are , taking our identity or the importance of it from what kind of job we have. Everyone of us is valuable and special and we all play special roles in each others lives and impact each other in many different ways. All work is valuable and we should honor ourselves for doing it and create the best we can with satisfaction in what we do. Take it from the simplest tasks and be present and find enjoyment in what you are doing at the moment. Be honest with yourself, accept yourself for who you are.

Show gratitude for everything:
This means we should honor and be grateful to everyone for the part they play in our lives: friends, neighbors, children, spouses, colleagues, store clerks, telephone receptionists, everyone we come into contact with throughout our day. Be grateful for all of the abundance in our lives, every blessing large and small, and we will be attracted to more. What goes around comes around. If you honor and respect others, they will do the same. Like energy attracts like energy!

The Original Reiki Ideals(Principles)

The secret art of inviting happiness
The miraculous medicine of all diseases
Just for today, do not anger
Do not worry and be filled with gratitude
Devote yourself to your work and be kind to people
Every morning and evening join your hands in prayer, pray these word to your heart
and chant these words with your mouth
Usui Reiki Treatment for the improvement of body and mind

The founder Usui Mikao

This is the version used by Reiki Masters in Japan and is thought to be what Dr.Usui originally used.

What is Reiki ?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is, in its simplest translation, universal life energy. It is referred to in other cultures as "chi", "prana", or "spirit". It is the life force that exists in all things. The practice of Reiki is the art and science of channeling this universal life energy, or force, to promote spiritual, mental, and physical well being.

As Reiki involves directing the natural flow of universal energy, it can best be likened to recharging a battery. When a battery's energy supply is low, it doesn't function well. By introducing a charge to it, it can once again run on its own. Reiki works much the same way. If you are suffering from an illness (physical, mental, or spiritual), your energy supply is lessened, Reiki works to assist you in bringing your energy level back up to its natural flow, thereby enhancing your own natural healing powers. The Reiki practitioner does not suffer from energy depletion, as they are trained to channel energy from the outside environment, not from their personal supply.

Reiki, however, isn't only for those in a state of disease. It's also helpful in reducing stress, aiding relaxation, and restoring energy.

Only recently rediscovered in the mid-nineteenth century by Dr. Mikao Usui, Reiki is an age-old method of healing based on a system of keys that act as a catalyst for releasing and channeling natural energy. Challenged by one of his seminary students who asked to see how healing with touch could be done, Dr. Usui found that he couldn't demonstrate this technique, nor could he find any information directing him how to do so. Thus began the quest that would take him all over the world. Finally, in Tibet, in the ancient writings of one of the Buddha's students, he found what he had been searching for - the keys to healing with touch, as well as the precise information for applying them.

Dr. Usui taught this method to a select few, among them Chujiro Hayashi. It is Hayashi who taught Reiki to Mrs. Hawayo Takata. Mrs. Takata brought the Usui system of Reiki to the United States in the 1930's.

Mrs. Takata personally trained many Reiki Masters before passing over in 1980. Additional information on the background of Reiki can be found in the following books: Living Reiki: Takata's Story by Fran Brown; The Reiki Factor by Dr. Barbara Ray; Essential Reiki by Diane Stein.

Reiki is gentle and subtle energy transference. Some people experience warmth from the touch of the practitioner. Others feel a tingling or pulsing sensation. Still others report simply an expanded sense of peace and relaxation.

A Reiki treatment is conducted through a series of carefully orchestrated touch patterns. The client lays down on a standard massage table (fully clothed) and, beginning at the head, the hands are placed in different positions as the practitioner works down toward the feet. The client then turns over and the process is repeated. The hands are held in each position (which closely align with the chakras) for three to five minutes. A full treatment takes about an hour. The amount of energy transferred depends on the client's needs and willingness to use it. The touch is very gentle with little or no pressure applied. This is not a massage technique, but more of a "laying on of hands." Reiki is not related to any specific religious beliefs or dogma, but is purely a channeling of the energy of the universe. It is up to the person being treated whether or not they accept the energy being given, as free will is always involved in the healing process. When applying Reiki to our Equine friends or other animals for that matter, they have no ego, to prevent the flow.In my experience they just enjoy what is given and are willing participants.

Quite simply, everyone! If you are basically healthy, Reiki energy works to help you stay clear and balanced. If you have been diagnosed with a disease, received an injury, or fallen under any other sources of stress, Reiki assists the natural healing process. Of course, if it's someone's time to die, Reiki cannot prevent this from happening. It can, however, make the transition easier and more peaceful.

REIKI IS NOT TO BE CONSIDERED A SUBSTITUTE FOR APPROPRIATE MEDICAL OR EMOTIONAL TREATMENT.

Reiki can, however, be used in conjunction with these other treatments.

A "distance" healing can be administered with the agreement of the person being treated. Just as energy travels through an electrical cord, so does the energy of the universe travel from the practitioner to the person receiving the treatment. Only those practitioners with second degree or higher training should give distance healing as they have been specifically trained and attuned for this.

It's important if you decide to receive a Reiki treatment that you seek out a qualified practitioner. The following is a breakdown of the three levels of study for the traditional Usui method:

First Degree Reiki
This is the basic course in Reiki and includes four separate energy-activating attunements along with complete training in the scientific use of the Reiki technique. The student is taught how to pass on the universal energy without depleting his or her own energy supplies. First degree training can take from 1 1/2 to 2 days, depending on the class structure and length. Specific instructions are given to the student as to how to apply Reiki energy to themselves, as well as to others that may wish to use it for treating a specific disease or as a preventive or transformative technique.

Second Degree Reiki
Second Degree training can usually take place three months after the First-Degree initiation (or then the student feels they are ready, both mentally and spiritually). During this training, the student receives two attunements and learns specific techniques for enhancing the flow of energy and for performing "distance" treatments. They are also taught a special method for dealing with deep-seated emotional and mental problems, which can be used with either a physical or distance treatment.

Third Degree Reiki
This is traditionally referred to as the Master level of training, as those who receive this degree can then teach Reiki to others. This is in-depth training, usually given over a period of several months, and includes supervised teaching time. Third Degree includes special energy attunements, which enable the student to activate the energy in others.

If you decide to look for a practitioner, please be certain to ask questions of them relative to their training. One who has received the attunements and instructions for applying the universal energy can only administer true Reiki. As with most every profession, there will be those who wish to side step training rather than spend the time and money needed to truly learn this method of healing. If you choose a practitioner or teacher who has invested of themselves and are fully qualified, you will be much happier with the results.

Hi Robyn. Thank you for starting this group. I am a Reiki Master from Alberta and my primary focus is Reiki for horses. I have found it to be an incredibly effective healing method for horses from speeding the healing of injuries to bringing back the spirit in dull or traumatized horses. It also works wonders when weaning foals! I am also a fan of the Masterson Method of equine massage, EFT and homeopathy. I look forward to reading posts from the members of this group! In the very near future I will be offering a workshop on Energy Healing for Equines in Alberta. I can't wait to share this wonderful gift.

Hey Robyn. Thanks. Much like you I generally go with my intuition. If I am just doing a general "tune up" I will lay my hands on each of the chakras but more often than not, I find that the horses that I am working on will generally move their bodies under my hands and guide me. I almost always work with the horse at liberty so they can come and go as they please. It really does expedite healing at all levels. I'm so pleased to have found this group. Can't wait to hear more about your workshops and practices.

Hi, I was just recently "certified" in reiki. It can be very powerful. Also, not that long ago my horse pulled her suspensory ligament and has been out of commission since Nov. in the begining of her injury I was using reiki on her. I think it helped her heal. The vet is actually very surprised by how much better she is doing in two months.
Do you have any suggestions to do anything else? Also, I was just focusing on her leg. What are the points to hit on a horse vs a human?

Hello Audrey... welcome to the group.. and to reiki... its an amazing gift... sorry to hear your horses injury... In my treatments with my own boys.. i try and let my intuition lead me.Sometimes they have muscle soreness..and I massage them...but for the most part I give reiki to there chackra centers..... In your situation, i would focus on her hurt leg of course, however also focus on her shoulder area... and all her other legs as i can imagine she has been compensating for the injury buy putting more strain and weight on her other legs and muscles. The points I focus on when doing a healing are the chackra points. The pic at the top of this group are a horses chackra centers. When giving reiki to those centers, naturally the reiki will go to the whole body.. it will go where its needed the most. I send distance healing to your equine friend to have a fast and healthy recovery. Have a great day! hope this info helps.

Robyn,
Thanks so much for the info. I had a myotherapist come out today and she said that Jazzy was definitely still in her neck and shoulder area. She massaged and put her hands on those areas and concentrated on her injured leg. I will continue with the reiki to help her heal. Could you email me a picture of the chackra points or can I copy and paste the pic at the top of the group?
Also, thank you for the distance healing. Jazzy thanks you too :)

Hi Kate- In the simplest form...Reiki is Universal life force energy, we are all made of it. If you go to my site Visit Link it will explain reiki and its history in more detail.Basically it is an energy transference from the universe through me to the client. I am just a channel for the energy to flow through. I have been practicing reiki on humans for about 12 years,, and my pets ect...and ive found pets to be much more responsive and willing to lap up the love energy.I would suspect because animals have no ego to get in the way....this is why they are more responsive and willing. My horses love the reiki energy and Ive noticed a huge positive change in their behavior and demeanor since ive purchased them. I have been doing massage for many years as well (on humans) and adding the reiki to the process of the massage i found is very beneficial. In my opinion reiki would benifit any modality (massage, reflexology, cranial sacral massage, ect) So on that note... learning reiki would not only benefit you... it would benefit your equine clients as well as your human clients...and everyone in between!! I hope that helps and explains more for you. Recommended reading: Essential Reiki by Diane Stein. Also googleing reiki will bring up thousands of hits for you. Have an amazing Day... Om.

Do you practice reiki? If so... after a day of working with them and they are in there stall eating there well deserved dinner, just putting your reiki hands on them and allowing the energy to flow to where its needed. I find my boys respond very well to just allowing the energy to flow where its supposed to go. It will go where its needed. If you do not practice reiki, it is ok... you can still use your intention and thoughts to allow energy to flow. I would be happy to assist in anyway way i can. You can try holding onto some rose quartz as rose quartz allows love energy to flow. and that is what reiki basically is.. love universal life force energy. Hope this helps. have a great day!
