well I will share my scary story with you all.

I was 9yrs old and I was riding at my farms (old farm) summer camp. I was being trained by the other trainer not the owner.
The day before my good friend was riding this horse and he threw her (she is a very good rider and she is strong) and she had a very very bad head injury.
My trainer (again I no longer train with them) told me a 9yr old 4'9 girl to get on this 17.3hnd horse hat threw my 17yr old 5'9 friend. I told her no. That I did NOT want to get on this horse. She had then said that I should trust her. Again I old her no. So she said
"Fine, then go home and never come back to ride her."
I got so upset because I LOVED that place. So she calmed me down and said that she would be right there in the ring teaching me.

I got tacked up (with help from a tall friend) and got on. This... is when I saw that the trainer was not training and a 17yr old was. (the owner did not know this was happening because she was at a show, she is a very good trainer and I know this would have never happened if the owner was there)

So flat was going ok, he got a little fresh here and there but nothing that I couldnt take. We then started to jump. At this time I was jumping 2'6 maybe a 3' here or there. But the girl put them all up to 3'6. We started and he was ok, then he started to refuse this one jump. The gril told me to keep going to it.. so I did...
I finally got him over it, but then going around the corner... he flipped

he bucked me off with such forces I went threw the ring fence.
Broke one with my face and one with my back. I blacked out but came in and sat up. i looked down at my leg, then at my whole body, then i saw all the blood. I then blacked out and didnt wake up until I was in the hospital.

I left that barn after that because it was to hard to be there.

I had broken
-both arms. my right in 6 places and my left in 1 and my wrist.
-my ankle
-3 toes
-8 finger.

hyperexstended(sp)
-my knee, I had to have surgery on it to put it back.

fractured
-4 bones in my back

I had to get 3 surgeries
when they 1st put my face back together (lip totally off, minor artery, cheek) I had 187 stiches.

The second I got the ok to ride. I was at my new barn that I have been with for 6yrs now :). They helped me get over alll my fears. Now I am back to being that little 6yr old I was getting on any horse. I no longer have the fear of new horses. I am not trying my hardest to find a horse I can do the Maclay on. I hope to be in it the end of this year or the beg of next.

thanks for letting me share my story

Oh my gosh, your instructor had a really bad idea! I'm really happy you left, it may have been a great place, but you could have died or something!

My Heart My Horse - My Heart Broke Today

I called the herd for their morning meal.
He didn't come and the fear in my heart was immediately real.

He was always there, the head of the herd.
The other horses didn't come for the grain that was offered.
Those equines had a look in their eyes that something was wrong.
I knew in a moment that my pride and joy might be gone.

My heart broke that day.
As I saw Zip in the spot where he lay.

Zippos High Caliber was still beautiful, shiny, and warm.
I'd spent the night before washing and trimming in the barn.
He was silky and clean and ready to show.
All I could do was hug and hold him crying out “no!”

August 1st is a day I will never forget.
Blast the drought, the dust and the humidity that let
my best buddy fall to asthma, that dreadful disease.
I knew in my heart that I couldn't ask “God, please!”

He was gone in his prime and loved by all.
No more trophies or championships or figuring his way out of a stall.
Zip gave his heart in whatever he did.
Be it reining, halter, trail, games, or teaching a kid.

He had almost human-like qualities like no other.
We sadly buried him right beside his dear mother.
Two beloved horses laying side by side.
Thank you to all who rode them, loved them, and cried.

The healing process has barely begun.
I'll never forget the reining patterns that he run.
His speed and his quickness, the collection, the spins.
It was his pride, his heart, his versatility that helped him win.

Now as I stare at his retired bridle and special bit,
those horseshoes, the blankets each with a championship year on it,
I find my heart heavy and sometimes so sad.
I do have Zip's black sister and know that I should be glad.

There forever will be a fondness in my heart
and know that our souls will never be far apart.
I'll look up to heaven and listen for hoofbeats so fast
and know Zip and Blackie are galloping through the grass.

Rest in peace my beautiful red bay.
A piece of my heart went with you that day.

My thoroughbred mare Tapestry, was an ofran at 6 weeks old. Her mother died of colic. it was very tragic. My pony pumpkin became her mom basically. My parents and I hand raised Tapestry. She is 10 yrs old now. When Tapi was 6, my mom was riding her and had a very bad crash, and we were going to sell Tapi, but i wouldnt let them. I tried to ride her but we had some very bad crashes. She became a suicide ride. But i was in love with her. I worked with her for 2 straight years trying to get her out of her bad habits, it was hard work, but it worked. I just spent time brushing her for 3 months, free lunging her, riding her after 6 months, getting her to free jump and work out her bucking issues.
she is one of the BEST horses i have ever had or ridden in my life. Tapi has worked out to be an amazing horse. Tapi is a 16.1 hh, chestnut thoroughbred mare, who does western pleasure. :) She's my mircle story. I have other amazing stories too, like about my palomino gelding Dakota, he was a PMU foal, pure wild, i got him at 3 months old, hes 10 now and my baby boy <3

i forgot to say, when we had some crashes, first one, i landed on my feet, second, i went right through a jump, third, bad concusion, hit a rock because she got stung by a bee, third, i went right over the fence and broke my hand, fouth.....we took a 3ft jump...she tripped on her landing, got stupid, started bucking, i came off, she tripped again and went down and fell on me...she broke my back, it still hurts, but i was walking 6 months later, and riding 8 months later. when my mom had the accident with tapi, tapi bucked 4 times and my mom came off, she broke her arm pretty bad, still hard to bend, but shes doing good. my mom never wanted to ride tapi again.
this year my mom started getting back up on tapi, just walking and troting after i ride her, we're all doing great :)

So my family and i went on vacation with my horses. One day my sisters mare ivy JUMPED the fence while we were trying to get them onto the lead line to go for a ride. So Ivy RAN down a BUSY road, and my pony oliver that my little sister was holding chased Ivy. I was holding Penny, a mare my mom and i share, and she DOESN'T do well without other horses there. She was starting to get scared so i didnt want MY horse to RUN down the busy road too so i ran to the paddock with her on lead and my brother was there and closed the fence so we got HER under control. My other brother just came out of the house when the horses ran down the road, so he RAN to catch up to them in BARE feet. My mom got the keys to my grandpas can and drove my sisters, brother and i down to where the horses went. My brother was caught up to them when we got there. My brother, dogs, and a bunch of cars were there. The horses werent hooked up yet andn my dog was scaring them so i had to get my dog into the car, but he BIT me. So i finally got him into the car and we walked the horses back home, with my dad's grammy's and moms cars blinkers on. All the horses are back and safe now.

Thanks for readin my story!
