We just had a disturbing events happen at my Mom's farm. Two of her animals were poisoned. First her beautiful black Shetland Sheep ram died after misteriously becoming ill very quickly. I did not know about it right away since I have been working a lot and my mom didn't want to bother me about it. She thought he became ill from the drastic weather changes we have been having here in Northern Michigan lately. However, my miniature colt that was kept there for the winter became very sick and died over this past weekend. He showed signs of "Anti Freeze" poisoning. Then my Mom said that it is the same way that Ricky the Ram acted just before he died a month ago.

I am very upset that someone would poison a couple of innocent animals minding their own business. We are figuring that Ricky and Beauty were targeted because they were in pens alone and who ever did this didn't want to kill the entire herd, but just wanted to kill single animals just for the heck of it.

We have no proof of who it is but we have rumors of who it could be (two teenage boys in the neighborhood). I am going to be filing a report with our local Animal Control officer in the morning but I don't look for much luck with her. Animals do not have many rights here in Michigan. But I will see what happens. I might even talk with the news paper and tv stations to see if anyone will come forward.

I am very angry since I was just getting ready for Beauty to come home in the next week so we could do some cart training for the upcoming show season.

I am very sorry for your loss. That is horrific. I cannot image that happening to *any* of my animals. I am very... disturbed to hear stuff like this. You are in my prayers.

I have 8 minis! We have 4 mares (Bay Babe, Sing, Faythe and Brownie) that we breed to our stallion (Banjo). We also have 2 fillies (Splash and Brilly) who just hang out with our mascot, a gelding (Hooligan). We are expecting 3 foals this year. Bay Babe and Sing are both due around April 20th and Brownie is due mid-June. Faythe did not take for this year, so we are planning to teach her to drive instead! Splash is coming 3 this spring and will join Faythe in "drivers-ed". Brilly will be 2, and pretty much just chills out. Hooligan has lung-problems (has had them since birth), so cant ever drive, so he is just our mascot. We take him to events like the MSWalk, the state fair to hang out at our booth, to campgrounds for the summer, in parades, etc. He has a very cute Bumblebee costume too.
We used to have 15, but downsized in the past year or so. Then we lost our stallion Alex (Splash's dad) to old age and one of our favorite mares Poca when she fell on the ice last winter.
I love these little guys! They are adorable, friendly, and have the funniest personalities!

I totally love the miniature horse! I am totally into carriage driving as much as riding. Working for HorseSouth Magazine, I covered an event in Newnan, Ga. A two day Horse Driving Trial. Well the miniature pair beat the entire entries in the driven Dressage. They then went on to take the Blue Ribbon for the Training Division.. that means they beat the big warmbloods!
I teach begininng driving. If you click on Visit Link you will see a YouTube link to one of my star pupils in driving training. Her name is Jessi!

Hey! I bugged abd bugged to get a mini just because. We eventually got a stud and I trick trained him, and he is an awesome driving horse. If anyone wants a horse that they can just drive around or pet and trust around there children get a miniature. But remember just because there so small and cute does not mean that they can hurt you! You must make sure not to let them get away with everything because they are still a horse! We rescued 3 because people could not take care of them, they are perfect now and it only took 1 week to get them into driving manners!
