Hi Everyone, I'm new to Equestrian Life. I have a 7 year old Appendix Quarter Horse gelding that I'm currently training in eventing. My goal is to start hunting with our local hunt club in the 2010-2011 season. What's stopping me you might ask? I don't have a truck and trailer! Drat! I'm currently recovering from a bi-lateral bunionectomy. That means I had bunion surgery on BOTH feet. So, unfortunately I'm not riding for at least 6 weeks. My trainers are riding my boy in both flatwork (dressage) and jumping. I miss my horse so much. Can't wait to connect with other fans of foxhunting.

Hunting is so much fun! I feel funny calling it hunting because it is really more like chasing and participating in a really fast paced trail ride with fancy clothes on and a very clean horse lol! Enjoy a great hunting season everyone and be sure to post your exciting tales!

Hey,
I have never done foxhunting, but I think it would be so much fun. I'd ask if anyone knew of any where I live but I kow the answer. NO. Alaska doesn't have any foxhunting place...

You guys probably have artic fox up in your neck of the woods among so many other neat animals that we don't have here in Virginia! Foxhunting season is generally fall through winter so maybe that is why there aren't any clubs in Alaska but you could start a group, if you don't have one already, where you get together with a group of people and ride on their land and you'll have a lot of what is so great about fox hunting just without the hounds and the fox!

Yeah that would be a great ideah, but there isn't any open land to ride in...everything is woods, houses, and roads. So it would be kinda hard to do...I guess if we found a good trail we might be able to do it single file, or 2 by 2...

I am glad to see we have aquired new members to the group! Welcome everyone- I am at the very moment sore all over from a great foxhunt today here in Virginia. The weather was lovely even though the fox was elusive and I evidentally need to get into better shape! :)

I love it too. Apparently this is what I have wanted to do my whole life but I didn't discover it until last year when I got my first horse! I have ridden all of my life but never had my own horse so it has been so much fun to ride again but this time with a horse I have a bond with!
