i have two old horses one is a 24 year old welsh pony his name is cariad and he's the pony my sister and i grew up on mostly he tought us how to fall but that is a great life lesson because don't we all fall in our lives the other horse we have is a 25 year old dutch warmblood named rio he is a now retiered grand prix level school master that was gifted to my family at 19 and tought my sister and i the more finer tunings of dressage they are both pasture horses now but we often look out the window to see them nipping at each other and enjoying a well deserved retierment it is funny to watch the 13'3 pony out picking on the 17' hand warmblood

We are enjoying in our lives a 30 yo English TB stallion, he has been an eventing horse and he is totally sound. He is loving and sweet and has a great relationship with my draft and pony.

Hi, I'm new! I have an Appy mare who will be 25 this year, and I bought her when she was 8 months old. We had a very successful show career as an all around horse, now she and her 28 year old paint gelding buddy (owned by my friend) are living out their lives on my property. Both are in excellent health, although she is a little arthritic. She is who I am. I love her so much, and just thoroughly enjoy caring for these 2 seniors for the rest of their lives.

Just wanted to post about our senior horse. He is 25 yrs old now. He has been the schoolmaster for my kids to learn on. He has been to the World Quarter Horse show. He has been a buddy to other horses. His name is Mocas Pride aka Mac. This old guy has been the best horse! We were lucky to get him. He has done everything western and english. When we would get colts in to train we would use him to teach manners to the young guys. He is now retired with ring bone, and just hangs out in the pasture. We make sure he has everything he needs. Feet are done, teeth, good feed and hay. He keeps plugging along, and we will forever keep him as happy as we can. Treasure your "senior" horse. They have alot to teach. They are worth their weight in gold.

I was at a plowing competition yesterday, and I was wathching Clarence, an 88 yr old guy who has been plowing since he was 10, with his team. He has a younger belgian who I don't recall the name of. And he had his old 26-7year old percheron mare, Bird, competing. And another person had old 28 year old, Duchess, in a playing field(where they can just plow and play around) She would have been competing, but her partner died overnight last year. I love those two oldies!!

I rescued a 20 year old Morgan last year. He had a very heavy load of worms...very disgusting, and it has taken almost a year to get him normal. Now we are using Chaste Tree Berry to treat his Cushing's. He was so hairy and bloated at first, that we did not know if it was worms or Cushing's. So now we know and treatment is underway. Hopefully soon we will be able to ride again. I will definitely get another Morgan soon asa friend for him. I could not be happier with my yard dog (well he thinks he is!!)
