I know how you feel EJ I've been showing since i was like 7 and the more advanced I get the more I show which isn't a bad thing when you do good but sometimes you get tired of going to show after show every weekend and not having any time to just have fun. Now I miss showing because I'm in college now and hardly every get to ride let a lone show so I mis it a little. Oh and your horse is cute he looks like a sweet heart how tall is he?

he's 15.3 hands. and he is a sweetheart. thanks! I just got tired of showing because I didn't own my own horse, so I was always given the tough lesson horse, and i looked like a fool in the shows because i only rode once a week, and pretty much was a second class citizen to my barn. so i got put in the easy classes, that i still never ribboned in, and i just didnt like being compared on some old sour lesson horse compared to some kid on a well trained horse. it got really old

I started to do eventing but had to stop when i came to college I 'm hoping to get back into it over the summer when I come home. I love it and my horse does to, I think you will like it, it is alot of fun and your horse will like it if he or she likes water. That is the only problem I have is that my horse likes water to much so when we get to a spot with water he tries to stop and roll its kinda funny but we are getting better.

Hi all! I just started riding English a year ago, and I love it. It's addicting, and challenging. My biggest problems and learning and understanding leads and lead changes. Anyone have any good pointers?

If you are having a problem picking them up practise going in circles on the wrong lead and then the right lead so that you can learn to feel the difference between them and you will eventually learn to feel the right one without looking to see if its wrong or not. Also remember that when on the rail the right lead is always the leg leading on the inside not the outside.

Thank you! I'll try that next time I ride. I feel the correct lead going one way, but for some reason I have a hard time going the opposite direction, and cantering is another story. Practice, practice practice. Eventually I should get it! Sometimes I think too much instead of just feel.

Yea I understand, I had a lot of trouble getting my diagnials when I was first learning t ride english, but you will eventualy get it down just dont give up even when it becomes frustrating.

I'd say start in circles. work on getting your horse on the bit, supple and listening, then when asking for the canter, stay on the circle, to ensure the correct foot goes forward.

What a wonderful idea for a group. Not all of us are showers. I used to show. But then I grew tired of being judged (haha i know). And now I have my first horse, a 22 yr old TB gelding, all I plan on doing with him is having so fun!
