Hi everyone I am a huge fan of barrel racing however I don't own my own horse and have never done it myself. I am planning on starting lessons to learn barrels in January though.

Hi my name is Sam i'm fairly new to this site. I've been barrel racing ever since i could ride a horse/pony which was about 3 or 4. Barrel racing is a family sport for me. I do NBHA (National Barrel Horse Association) shows not rodeo though.

Hello girls! I've been barrel racing for about 6 years now and my ONLY horse is having a baby next month! We would run 15's consistently and I can't WAIT to get back in the arena!

hey ya'll, i just bought a thoroughbred, and both of us love running barrels. I've always had quarter horses, and never had a problem getting them to pocket around the barrel, but my TB just lopes around them. He has so much extra speed we still place no higher than fifth, but I know if he can just learn to turn tighter and pivot around that barrel, we'll be headed to state. Any suggestions? and plz no start out slow. we've been walking, trotting, and loping the pattern plus other excersices for over two months, he listens to me great and he knows what to do, he just doens't pivot when needed.

hey everyone, I'm new to this site and this group! Nice to meet you all, I'm Kati, I've only been chasing cans for about 2 years now, still don't own my own horse, that will probably come after I graduate from university, however I lease and part-board during the barrel season. My three horses that I've had over the past 3 summers have profiles so feel free to check them out =)

I have an old reigning/barrel racing horse. I actually had to learn that this was his talent the hard way after buying him a year ago. But after lots of TLC and time learning that he did not have to "work" I am ready to give his true talents a try. Any suggestions as to where to start?? I have a barrel, and when he sees it it is pretty much like "game on". Now what?

well start slow. He is thinking game on because thats what he was taught and thats what he knows. Make sure that you work with him learning how to go around the barrel. Even though you may think he knows what to do he might not. Try first just to get the pocket just right and to make sure he understands. Start slow and then slowly gain speed.
