rocky mountain mare shes got a nice gait...I also work at a rocky mountain farm so I get to ride over 30 rockies!
It has been rahter difficult for my kids to compete in 4H here in Iowa because they do not have saddleseat classes. We went to fair last year with our TWh and Saddlbred, flat saddles, double bridle, the fancy suit, and we were told that they had to ride western. So they go to open shows and now are getting into some saddbred shows. My daughter rides her saddleseat horses in western hunter hack games bareback and trail rides. They are all around horses, one time while on a trial ride on her saddlbred one lady rode up to her and said hey don't you know that saddlbred are for the show ring not trail rides. WHAT?!? I guess some people need to read some history.
Omg I know the feeling. I have a Morgan Saddleseat mare. And live in a county where everyone is showing stock horses or quarter horses. I also was told I had to get my high headed mare to ride western. The other people were like why is your horses head in the air why don't you have a pad. And someone told my mom that I wasn't riding right and that my horse was crap because her head was set correctly for a Morgan. Of course my mom had breed this mare and was like um no this mare has qualified for the World show. Some even tried to get me disqualified for illegal tack. I agree others need to read up on Saddleseat.
