Having started to ride horses at age 50, I found that my attitude toward life changed. I started to be really present in whatever I did. This has continued for years! Since you have to be so present while riding... or you'd be liable to fall off! being with horses was a way to bring me to a kind of spirituality.
I just published a book based on interviews with top level horsewomen. See link to video book trailer (3 mins) Visit Link and go to my website at www.hucklehillpress.com to see testimonials and an excerpt.

I have a Quater horse cross who has bad temperment problems. I have tryed different feeds and supplements with my horse and only one feed has worked. But once I take him off the feed and put him on oats for spring and summer he has worse temperment issues. I have always used oats in the spring and summer and this year he has worse temperment problems.
We have sperated him into a smaller herd which he likes and his temperment has decreased alittle but is still VERY aggresive towards humans, dogs, cats, pigs, and other horses.
When at shows he shows no sign of aggresion towards anyone or anything, I don't know if that means anything but he is a show horse. :)
Any Ideas on what could help him with this issue?
Thanks.

I'm looking for a job related to horses. i live in kansas, and am 17(going to graduate this May) but for the right job would be willing to move. A groom job that i could work my way up would be great! Or a live in groom. any suggesions are welcome. thanks you!

Im a freshman at Ohio University and I dont have a job at school now but when Im home I work with a trainer that I have known since i started riding. I groom, tack, cool off, and ride with her. I also feed, hay, clean stalls, tack, and other chores that need to be done. I learn a lot i have fun doing it. Its a lot of work but its all worth it. Good luck with the search!

I love that kind of work!!! but have you ever worked a show!!! I really don't like shows because i've known people, NOT at the barn i'm at now, thst care more about winning then their horse. and i hate to see that. But i really do somewhat like going to shows with the barn i'm with now!PEEPER! my trainer, Julie, makes it fun for the riders! she's happy and smiling no matter what place you got!!! I don't show. But working them can be very hard!! mainly tack changes between classes and FINEING the 6-10 year old riders!!! but it's fun!

My coach usually has someone stay for the summer months, and you do get to work at shows that she shows and hosts, as well as the reg barn chores.

I found this article regarding a 3M product made for covering floors being sold as a saddle pad. It has been found to cause injuries. Just an FYI to everyone out there:
