I would like to invite everyone to join the group Friends of Sound Horses (FOSH). We are a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sound training practices in gaited horses. We are also the leading organization fighting to end soring of gaited horses. Our annual Sound Horse Conference is coming up on November 5th and 6th in Louisville, KY. For more information visit www.soundhorseconference.com. Also, check out the FOSH website at www.fosh.info to learn more about what we are all about or get directly involved! We are ALWAYS looking for more members and volunteers!

Sincerely,
Colby Hansen

I have 2 MFT - Chief who is 3 and I just started riding 2 month ago, and I have a 5 month old stud colt.

I'm looking for a bit, I started Chief out in an eggbutt snaffle - and unknown to me I had the bit upside down, where it didn't bend in the middle like it was suppose to. Well when I would ask for him to turn to the right with the rein and leg of course he would turn...when I asked for the left turn he would bend his head but keep walking forward with his mouth gapped open. So I looked at the bit I went to Atwoods and got a regular snaffle for like $5.00. I haven't ridden him in yet, but I did put it on the bridle and have him wear it for a bit. And after he got use to something different in his mouth he stopped playing with and held it.

Here are the bits that I'm looking at: Myler Wide Barrel Loose Ring Comfort Snaffle and/or the Myler Eggbutt Snaffle bit....

What's the difference between the D ring, the loose ring and the full cheek.

I'm not really interested in head carriage with my MFT, and I really don't care if they truly gait or not though at one point I thought that Chief paced but I don't think he does. They're just going to be for fun, trial riding etc...

Thank you for the advice
Brandi

Hi everyone, i just joined the group and wanted to say that i am also a gaited horse lover. My horse is a rocky mountain. I don't have a twh, but it was a toss up between a twh and a rocky when i was looking to purchase. I love both breeds. Spring is here and i hope everyone is out riding and enjoying the weather!

Hi Audrey:
I'm new here, so I wanted to answer, I loved gaited horses too.
Does anyone have a stallion in the L.A. area of California, so I can breed my mare?'

Visit Link This is the only Walker stallion I know of in the state. This guy is the only other gaited stallion that Equine.com has listed: Visit Link a Fox Trotter.

Best of luck!
