Since relocating to the USA, some 19 years ago, Corinne Ashton escaped an accounting career and found her way back to her four legged friends. She rode for several years bringing horses up through the ranks before she found Dobbin in the local wantadvertiser. a 16 hand, three year-old TB still in the field he was born in.
Dobbin's star record speaks for itself.
In his first year he did one novice and five training level events placing either 1st or second in all of them. In his second year as a five year old he ran preliminary and was always in the top three. He was 2nd in his first CCI* at Bromont as a six year old. He competed intermediate the rest of the year and ran Morven Park CCI* that fall finishing 5th out of 99 starters.
2001 saw a 3rd place finish at Radnor CCI** and in 2002 the United States Equestrian Team added Ashton to their Long List of three-day event riders, she joined David O'Connor in Ocala for a training session, competed advanced for the rest of the year and finished 16th out of 80 at Fairhill International CCI*** .
Highlights of 2003 were a 2nd in the CIC** at Red Hills and a 6th at Foxhall CCI*** and we were shortlisted for the 2003 Pan American Games. Alas an untimely fall caused us to miss the latter.
2004 continued with a great 7th place finish at the Foxhall Cup CCI*** and wins at Groton House Farm, Millbrook and a 3rd at the Advanced American Eventing Championships.
2005 saw the ultimate CCI**** experience, Rolex, Kentucky. A brilliant clear cross country round landed the pair with a 16th place finish out of 39 starter and the Bank One Trophy for the highest place owner/rider combination.
The highlight of 2006 was a win at the CCI** Virginia Horse Park and set the pair up for the best year ever, 2007!
Wins at the Advanced Gold Cup at Southern Pines and Millbrook put him 3rd in the overall Gold Cup standings for 2007. Dobbin claimed the title of Advanced National Champion at the AEC in Illinois, was 5th in the CIC*** at Witts End in Canada and 9th out of 76 at Fair Hill International CCI***.
The 2007 USEA leaderboard ranks Dobbin 5th in the country,
Corinne Ashton is ranked 19th on the overall Leaderboard and 10th Leading Lady Rider, a great year!
