Daisy Dick

Daisy Dick (born 29 March 1972 in Oxford) is a British three-day eventing rider. With her horse Spring Along, she won the bronze medal for Great Britain in the team eventing at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Since winning Windsor in 1992, Daisy has been eventing at the top level for fifteen years. She represented Britain in the Young Rider Championships in 1993, was seventh at Badminton the following year, represented Britain as an individual at the European Championships at Burghley in 1997, and again at Blenheim in 2005. She won at Blenheim the following year, and in 2007, won team gold and came 7th individually at the European Championships at Pratoni in Italy. Daisy also won Gatcombe in 2007.

Daisy’s father was the great National Hunt jockey Dave Dick who will always be remembered for famously winning the 1956 Grand National on ESB, overtaking the Queen Mother’s horse Devon Loch when it collapsed just yards from the winning post. Daisy’s mother was a top event rider herself and represented Ireland in three day eventing and was placed at both Badminton and Burghley. Horses are a big part of the family - her brother Alexander was until recently in the Household Cavalry, and Daisy’s uncle and aunt on her father’s side, John and Christine Dick, are two of Britain’s most successful carriage drivers.

Daisy rode from a young age and her childhood is full of fond memories of her ponies Bluebell, Silver, Moss, Jot and Bracken. But, as well as riding, Daisy was academic and did well at school. After sailing through “A” levels in Biology, Chemistry and Geography she went on to Oxford University to study Zoology. She gained her Masters degree in 1993 and also rowed for her college at Oxford.

Daisy is backed by three sponsors – Bates Australian Saddle Makers provide the air filled saddles Daisy uses. Weatherbeeta provide all the rugs and she also gets generous help from Anacap Financial Partners.
