Kim has held a multitude of positions in the horse industry from groom to barn manager to the host of local horseshows. Today she shows in various hunter and jumper divisions depending on what horses she has in the barn. Five years ago, her husband traded up his Harley Davidson for her derby horse. “He was a very nice horse and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity when he was so generously offered,” Kim says of buying “Calvin.” The pair enjoys riding in the derbies and Kim says it’s the creative thinking involved that makes the derbies so challenging. “It takes smart riding,” she says. “These classes require that you be solid and that your horse be solid, that you are solid as a team. That’s something that doesn’t happen overnight.”
