Susan likes the derby format because it reminds her of the outdoor courses she used to jump when she first started riding. “So much more fun than the usual courses we jump today,” she says. Susan discovered “Ruby” when she started riding with Russell Frey. One of his customers owned the bay mare and Susan was immediately attracted to her elegant style. “I told Russell that he needed to find me a Ruby, and he said she was for sale, so I bought her,” Susan explains.
