Tara Ziegler Tara has been riding since she was a little kid, thanks to her mother, who has built up a solid horse business throughout the past 30 years.
Tara has competed twice at the Rolex Kentucky Four Star on her 14-year-old bay gelding, Buckingham Place and plans to head back again this spring. She has had "Buck" since he was a 6-year-old off the track, and has done most of the training herself, with help from her mother, coach Phillip Dutton, and others. She has also successfully completed the three-star at Fairhill in Maryland three time finish in the top half every time.
She has also competed on two Young Rider teams. The one-star team in 2001 in Temple Farms, Illinois, and on the two-star team in 2003 in Bromont, Canada, where she finished 9th individually on her mare, Carakat.
Tara graduated from Lincoln University, (Pa.) in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Religion. She also has a minor in Chinese and spent one semester in Kunming, Yunnan, China, during the fall of 2004.
She has also recently received a grant through the American Horse Trial Foundation . Competing at the Advanced level is expensive, and if Tara has any hope of riding for the U.S. Equestrian team, she needs your help! Please see below for details of how to donate.
