About Me

I have been horse-crazy since birth. My parents couldn't get me off my spring-mounted rocking horse on Christmas Day when I was 2, so they left me there and I fell asleep on the horse--guess that was the beginning of my obsession with riding. I've owned horses most of my life, starting when I was 9, but there was a ten-year period when I didn't have horses (older teen years, then got married, had kids young, you know the story!).

Currently live on a farm in Ohio with my six horses (and family of course!). Ride as much as possible. Used to do some contest showing (mostly barrels and poles with my 1/2 Arab, Spirit), but my main love is hitting the trail! I now ride in endurance competitions---love it! Feeds the need for trail riding and that competitive spirit. I may, begrudgingly, get back into showing if my little QH weanling shows promise.

Am a HUGE natural horsemanship fan, especially of Clinton Anderson, Chris Cox, and Craig Cameron. Also follow Julie Goodnight, Lynn Palm, and Karen Scholl. I have begun training my own horses after extensive learning from them, and also hope to achieve my riding instructor certification one day. I always, always believe NO ONE knows it all when it comes to horses and am constantly learning (and teaching others)...watch RFD-TV, talk to reputable horse people, go to clinics, seminars, read books and magazines, learn, learn, learn!

I would also like to add that I'm having a blast on this site meeting so many new people--and I've noticed there are a lot of people "getting back into horses," or are novices wanting to learn more about horses. Although I'm not a licensed professional (yet--I AM working on it!), I have years of experience with both owning and riding horses, their care, and I firmly follow the principles of natural horsemanship as stated above--so if you'd ever like to contact me for help with getting started with your horses, please don't hesitate! I am a very outgoing person and I love helping people, one of my goals is to teach people who are both novices and/or underconfident with their riding. Actually, I am already doing this, I just want to do it on a more regular basis and be certified. Hope to hear from you!
