About Me
Hey, my name is Sierra and I have 3 horses; Starr, Sunny, and Miette. I have been riding for 11 years and have been competing for 7. My first horse was a mare named Lillian, she was a sweet mare who was blind on one side, I started leasing her when she was in her late teens and just coming out of retirement. Lilly was a good beginning event horse and I did a bunch with her. Unfortunately, in 2004 3 weeks after I had gotten Lilly as a Christmas present, Lilly was kicked in the head on her blind side and had to be put down. Two months later we bought Starr and Sunny. Sunny had been in a field doing practically nothing for a year when I had gotten her, but we put her into training so I could possibly compete her later. (I never got to because she went lame with ring bone, so now she's just a trail horse) On the other hand I started riding Starr immediately, within the first two years of me having him I got stronger and changed the former hunter/jumper into an eventer competing him elementary. Starr was competing BN when we had to take a break in the summer of '06 due to navicular symptoms. That fall I started to bring him back and in the spring of '07 we had him competing again at BN. That season was rocky, Starr never really enjoyed jumping and wasn't too happy going back to it. But, we went to school together in the fall of 2007 and competed successfully at BN two more times to win a 2nd at Olde Hope and a 1st at Jenny Camp. This summer we retired Starr to a life of dressage after I got my new horse Miette, an 8 year old thoroughbred I got from a friend who was moving to Europe in early '09. Miette and I competed in a hunter show at school, then a jumper school at another farm, then we finished up the season with a 2nd at Jenny Camp at BN. We are hoping to compete a successful novice season in '09.
