Jackie Baker

About Me

I am a horsewoman. I was in the saddle before I could even walk, and I just can’t get away. I have years of experience showing in the hunter ring, teaching lessons and camps for kids and adults, taking care of horses, working with therapeutic riding programs, and living, loving, and breathing horses. I learned most everything I know from my mom.

After a life-time of leasing and riding other people’s project horses, I recently became a horse owner for the first time. Ace is a 9-year-old thoroughbred gelding, never raced, registered as Ace Brown. Alydar is his grandfather on his sire’s side, and he also has Bold Ruler and Native Dancer in his lineage. He hadn’t had much done with him previously, but is coming along nicely as get started under saddle. He’s very willing, lively, friendly, and social – and sometimes a little too smart. One of the best parts of my week is volunteering at Pegasus Farm, a certified NARHA facility in Northeast Ohio.

Regarding Horses is dedicated to researching and analyzing the most current equestrian industry news, events, and issues and sharing horse experiences and knowledge. With particular emphasis on sport horses, hunters, jumpers, dressage, and eventing, I also cover thoroughbred racing, therapeutic riding, and other disciplines from time to time. Regarding Horses is written from a perspective of horsemanship, passion, respect, and years of experience in riding, showing, teaching, horse care, and volunteering.

I work as an internet marketer by day to support my horse habit (and feed my husband) and still spend a little time with my nose buried in good books, knitting, or playing my French horn.
