Where to start? I ride in the english lesson program at whitemud equine center here in edmonton. I am currently in level 5 (jumping is introduced in level 4, to give you an estimate of what level 5 means). Sadly this means i only get to ride once a week. But untill i have the knowledge (and money) to have my own horse, this is far better than nothing.
When i can i love to go work at a camp in halkirk where they offer trail rides. If you are lucky enough to get to be a wrangler you get to ride all day everyday for a week. IT IS AMAZING (said the city gal). But since western is not my primary style i do get shown up by farm kids half my age (and size!) lol.
i used to have a horse in the lesson program that was my other half, but after bucking one of my classmates he was sold (to a great owner who i know he loves, and i know loves him) and is no longer available for me to ride.
Sob.
Now i have found Higgins, he is a great horse. He will definately take some getting used to before we start working together on things, but i have hope!
Random fact: the only time i have fallen off my horse i was ridding bareback and using a hater and leadrope as reins, bad idea. I ended up being lucky and only having a mild concussion ( i wassen't wearing a helmet). the one good thing about this was that i was happy to find that i am a ridder who is willing to get back on her horse. Nothing makes me sadder than when people fall off once and call it quits forever!
