About Me

I am 17 and I have always been interested in horses, my mom had one when she was my age and had to get rid of her when she married my dad. My mom had always wanted to be able to afford to buy me and my sister a horse, so last July she bought us a horse named Mindy, who was advertised as a beginners horse. When we went to see Mindy she seemed nice (she is only 5) and the owner of Mindy told us that she had a sprang ankle so she couldn't ride Mindy for us, but she had her 9 year old son get up on her for us as she led him around, and Mindy did really well so my mom got up on her and got led around as well. We were so excited to get Mindy, so the lady who owned her delivered her for us to my mom's friends house, who had another horse (we unfortunately live in the city, we're working on changing that :P) but anyways we got Mindy and put her in a stall and my mom and my friend decided to brush her, and she tried to bite my friend, we thought it was a little odd but we figured she maybe just had a long day and didn't want to be bothered, so we left for that day and i decided I wanted to know more about Mindy because the lady we bought her from didn't know alot about her because she said she only owned her for a few months. So, i looked at her coggins test papers and called the previous owner listed on them and told her we just had purchased Mindy and we wanted to know more about her, so she was really upset and said that she had just sold Mindy to the lady we bought her from 2 weeks ago!!! and she said when she sold Mindy to the lady she sold her to her for $100 because Mindy had bad habits and was not a horse for beginners like she had wanted. So yeah, the lady who sold us Mindy sold her to us for $800 and failed to mention any bad habits and had her advertised as a beginners horse, so we got scammed. But my mom decided not to give up on Mindy, and to give her a chance, so we kept her and we sent her to a John Lyons certified trainer in August and spent $800 for her to be there for a month and the trainer worked on trail riding with her and got her to move forward with someone on her (before we took her there she would only back up and be sassy and not lunge at all) and she also taught her how to round pen. Other than that she taught her nothing and she barely rode her, and the trainer was a jerk to us and acted like we knew nothing, so we got screwed over again. My mom decided to still keep Mindy and work with her and she does okay for riding, but she still has the bad habits she had from the beginning like trying to bite, and try to jump on us and trying to charge us and pinning her ears back whenever you want to make her do something she doesn't want to do. The one good thing about her is that she has an amazingly smooth trot and canter (if u can get her to do it) and she has never bucked while riding. That's the long story of Mindy, me and my sister are afraid of her because she has tried to charge and jump on us several times, so in November my mom bought us a 19 year old mare named Chloe, she is the best horse a person could ask for, she is so sweet and she is trained to walk, trot and canter just by saying the word. She is amazing, my 8 year old cousin who knows nothing about horses can ride her. Chloe has helped me to regain my trust for horses, and she is in great health for her age and has no problems cantering, i love her and i hope everyone gets to have an experience with a horse like her!
