About Me
2008 NRHA World Champion Jeremy Gates trains and shows reiners from his home base of Stony Ford Ranch in Campbell Hall, NY. In his 5 years there, he's put the facility on the map as a top-tier center for reining. The farm stands Peptos I Brow, Jeremy's partner for the World Championship. The pair has also been successful in futurity an derby competition, with earnings todate of almost $50,000.
Jeremy has a Bachelors Degree in Equine Science and Management from SUNY at Morrisville, New York. After graduation, he signed on for nearly 4 years as assistant trainer for top NRHA non pro coach Dutch Chapman, also known for building young trainers into showmen. In 2003, he showed Terri Key's Ms Peppy Mint Chic to the NRHA Limited Open Reserve World Championship. The pair also finished in the Intermediate Open Top Ten. Subsequently, he worked for the legendary Hilldale Farm, Fayetteville, TN, home of Nu Chex To Cash. In 2004, he was once again listed in the Intermediate Open top ten standings. The native New Yorker returned to his home state in April 2004 to work for Stony Ford Ranch.
He is particularly excited about his young horse program and regards each young reining prospect as an individual, tailoring a successful program to meet the needs of each individual horse. Currently, his 2- and 3-year old prospects include horses by Peptos I Brow, Custom Crome, Nu Chex to Cash, West Coast Whiz, Elans Playboy, Royal Blue Quixote, Who Whiz It, and Bueno Starlight.
His non pro clients compete in the green reiner, rookie, youth, and non pro divisions. While most keep their horses in training at Stony Ford, he also works with people who come in for a day, weekend, or week of tune up and help with their horses. He frequently conducts clinics, as well.
Stony Ford Ranch is conveniently located, minutes from the NY Thruway (I87) and I84. It is near Newburgh's Stewart Airport and a little over an hour's drive from New York City.
Stony Ford show horses compete locally, and as far away as Florida, Quebec, Ohio, and Oklahoma.
