Hi there, my name is Jessica. I've been riding horses since I was nine years old. When I started out riding, I rode English, going up to the beginnings of Dressage. Upon moving from Florida to Texas when I was fourteen, I began riding western, and have fallen in love with it since. Since the transition, I have been exposed to so much more in western vs. English. I've learned barrel racing, a bit of reining, working cattle, team penning/ranch sorting, and, my most favorite, Extreme Cowboy Racing!
I graduated from Hightower High School in 2011, and since then I've been doing whatever I can to build my dream to becoming a horse trainer. I have since then worked with a nearby trainer, learning the ropes and got to the point where I was beginning to break a filly until he sold her months later. I have learned a lot, but I am still learning more.
In spring of 2013, I joined the Extreme Cowboy Association (EXCA) and have fallen in love with the sport. I have met so many friends and have learned so much from so many different riders and trainers. It is thanks to the EXCA that I've gained a great competitive spirit, for I had never competed until then, and that I was able to acquire my own horse.
My friend whom I met through the EXCA offered to me a chance to compete while I was in search for a way to ride my trainer's young green mare in the competitions. She had a mare that she competed on the previous year, even making it to the World Championship. After meeting her and her mare Texas, I decided to give her a shot. What I didn't realize was that it would grow into something even bigger! At the time, I was only riding her once a month, and because of that we had a really big disadvantage, and we weren't becoming in tune with each other. That was before a race in July, where we were able to beat everyone in the Novice division and winning a buckle. My friend then decided to offer her to me as my own horse. Together, Texas and I have grown a lot and have become a very unique team.
She is (as of November 2013) pregnant to a foal by a Thoroughbred stallion named ItsAllintheChase, who had raced in the 2002 Kentucky Derby. The baby is due in May, so be looking out for pictures!!
