About Me
I've been riding for 5 years in the classical seat. My trainer focuses on the horses moving from their back end and coming up in the front end. She rescues all horses- a lot of standardbreds, ponies, and appaloosas along with quarter horses and thoroughbreds. She reveres Jean Luc Cornille as much as I admire her.
I have just adopted a standardbred gelding, Daby, from the race track in Augus last yeart. I met him 3 years ago and fell in love. Unfortunately, his racing career didn't end until last fall. We've come a long way in just a year :) He trots and jogs- yes jogs!! undersaddle without racing around and the picture of his new life is coming together. We're getting canter steps with a rounded back from jumping and galloping when we just want to have fun . :) He's going to be a fantastic jumper- already his knees are perfectly square.
If anyone is looking for a new horse that's sweet, I recommend the standardbred. They are willing to do anything for their owner, but they're smart enough to avoid dying. They are easy keepers and don't need to be shod. Standardbreds range from pony sized to over 17 hands. They are often mistaken for American warmbloods. And, in Daby's case, quarter horses. They love to jump, they're great at driving, doing dressage, doing competitive trails, working cows, performing in western classes(with a little training, they can jog)- pretty much everything under the sun!
