I am an Equine Veterinary Technician that lives on Long Island, NY. Due to severe lack of jobs here in NY, and across the USA, I found a WONDERFUL way to support my horses that gives me the added benefit of having more time with them! It occurred to me that maybe traditional Veterinary medicine wasn't the niche that I was made to fill... I have been a "starving horse owner" since I bought Twister in 2000. I know what it is like to run from your horse because you are embarrassed that you can't pay board, the farrier, the Vet, etc. I know what it is like to forgoe lessons for years because you can't afford a quality trainer. I know what it is like to live in fear of the phone because it might be the stable calling about a colic that you could never afford surgery on! I see equine businesses all over the USA tanking because of finances. A Vet on the TheHorse.com wrote a compelling article about "blue tarps" over horses the she had to euthanize because it was cheaper than keeping them alive.
It is my personal mission for 2010 to bring my business in front of AS MANY needy horse owner's as possible in the hopes that we might begin to repair our Equestrian Community. If we start at the "bottom" with the horse owners the money WILL filter UP to the stables, the Vets, the farriers and the the trainers. Please let me know if you know of horsey families that I can help! For more information, visit My Businesses.
