About Me
I've been riding since I was two years old. I started off riding western primarily up in Illinois at my Uncle's farm. When I showed interest in the sport, my parents sent me to nearby horse stables in the area; Northern Virginia. Everything is English out here and I began to learn English. I moved through stables, went to many summer camps and began to hone my riding skills. I worked hard in school to earn myself my first horse, Sonny Boy, later named Sonny's Dream (barn I moved him to had another 'older' Sonny Boy) He was a 16.2hh thoroughbred who was 21 years old and my steady eddy. I learned a lot from him. Unfortunately, he suffered from two hematomas in his sinuses which had to be removed. My parents didn't want to pay for any more medical bills and he was retired and lives with his previous owner. He's a happy camper, he gets to be turned out with the mares, haha.
A year or two later, my friend Rachel lost her friend in a tragic accident. Her friend had asked Rachel to take care of her horse if anything were to happen to her and to find the mare a home. Rachel talked to me and I came into the possession of an 8 year old 16.2hh bay thoroughbred mare. Her name is Southern Belle. She was a really good girl. It took a lot of time and work before she could trust me. Unfortunately, when she was in previous ownership, she had been kicked in the neck and had broken a piece of her neck. The bone rested in her muscle which caused her to limp in the back and caused her pain. She wouldn't be able to do extensive dressage or jump too much. My parents gave me the option of finding her a home or putting her down. I refused to put her down. My parents actually found a couple that lived in North Carolina that came to get her. It was one of the saddest days of my life, watching her leave. I've tried to get in contact with the people who've taken her but I've gotten no responses in return. I wonder if she's even still alive. If anyone has any information on her, please send me an e-mail or message! Thanks. She's a thoroughbred mare with a dent in her neck. She's got a white blaze on her face and a couple small white socks and black stockings. She should be nine now.
I leased another thoroughbred gelding for a while. He ended up being for sale but he just wasn't a fit. His name is Blade Runner and he's a very sweet gelding. He's just not a horse for what I want to do. I found a horse a couple months ago with my friend Rachel named Little Risky. He is the shortest horse that I've looked at standing at 15.3hh. He's a thoroughbred, but he's built like a warmblood. He's stocky, cute, and adorable. His only vice is cribbing, and I can live with that. Sonny was a cribber. I'm still paying Risky off, but soon you'll be seeing us at the competitions :) That is...if he doesn't magically have another medical issue like the rest. Haha. Knock on wood.
