About Me
Hey! My name is Alaina, and I'm 14 years old. I live in Oklahoma, and well... that is all I will tell you about where I live! Haha. :) Anyway, I ride hunter/jumper at Coffee Creek Riding Center, and my trainer is Mrs. Lucille Fancey. Right now, I ride a 16.3 Sorrel Quarter Horse gelding named Artie. He is my baby, and there will probably be alot of photos of him on my profile. In real life, I own 2 cats, and 2 dogs. One of my little kitties, Skittles, we got from our vet's office. She was an office cat, but they needed to get rid of her, so we took her. Our other cat, Levi, is a rescue from the OKC Animal Shelter. :) Our dog, Toby, is a 13 year old Border Collie x Terrior Mix, and we got him from Pets and People when he was only 2. Bogey is a Maltese x Shih Tzu mix, and we got him from my grandma when she passed away in 2009.
I first got my love of horses when I was only 2 years old. At that time, my parents would always take me to the Laughlin Air Force Base Stables, in the small town of Del Rio, Texas. I remember going there and "helping" feeding and grooming three different horses. Two were old appaloosa mares, Heidi and Rose, and the other was a young, spirited black Thoroughbred gelding named Goblet. I remember when I moved, a year later I was heartbroken to leave them. When I moved to OK however, I started up gymnastics, then quit when I was around six years old. By that time, I was old enough to take riding lessons at Hadwell Stables. My trainer then, Mr. Hadley, was around 74 or 75. He used to professionally judge horse shows, and he was a retired horse trainer, and my mom found him. I took lessons with him for around four or five years. I remember the first horse I ever rode was a Quarter Horse mare, named Chamois. She was the sweetest thing. I learned how to ride on her, and trot as well. When she passed away at the ripe old age of 37, I was heartbroken, but went on to riding a bay Arabian gelding, Marris. I learned to canter on him, and when he died, he was around 39. Finally, I switched off between a 23 year old American Saddlebred, and a 4 year old Paint. The ASB, Shazz, was a retired show horse. I only walked and trotted him though, never cantered. Dude, the Paint horse, is still alive today, and is about ten or eleven. I ride him somtimes. All this was western riding.
Now I take hunter/jumper lessons at Coffee Creek with Lucille Fancey, or Mrs. F. I first started English riding in September 2009, and rode a short, stocky little Quarter Horse. His name is Dusty, and he is by far, one of my favorite horses. I soon moved up to Artie. Now I ride him, and I have been jumping jumping Since April 2010. . . I am already up to about 3'6, 3'7. and working more and more on it. :)
