About Me
Jill Elsey grew up in Plano, Texas and Houston, Texas. She began riding at 5 years old and has shown hunters and jumpers in the North Texas Hunter Jumper Club as well as the Texas Hunter & Jumper Association. She has shown her horses in many states, and she worked as an assistant trainer throughout school. After graduating from High School in Tomball, Texas with honors, she entered completed in her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University 3 years. She was then attended South Texas School of Law from and graduated in 2007. She was then licensed by the State Bar of Texas to practice law.
As a life-long equestrian who was raised in the horse business, Jill has been fortunate to combine her knowledge of the industry with her knowledge of the law. Her firm is committed to assisting clients with their horse-related transactions and litigation. She now practices law in Houston, Texas while continuing to show her beloved jumper Valuobet, son of the champion, Galuobet.
Jill has been published in magazines such as Practical Horseman, Horseback Magazine, and Show & Tell Magazine. She is currently coordinating with Professor Fran Ortiz at South Texas College of Law to write The Texas Handbook on Animal Law for both lawyers and non-lawyers. She has spoken before the Texas Thoroughbred Association, the Houston Quarter Horse Association, and the Animal Law Section of the Houston Bar Association. She currently serves as Secretary of the Animal Law Section of the Houston Bar Association, Treasurer of the State Bar of Texas Animal Law Section and on the Board of Directors for the Greater Houston Horse Show Association. She will be a guest speaker this fall at Texas A&M University.
She has supported many worthy charities such as Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch, Sire-Houstonâs Therapeutic Riding Center, Houstonâs SPCA, Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, Texas A&M Equestrian team as well as participating in a mission trip with her church to both Mexico and Honduras. She has started National Equine Escrow LLC in order to assist in the sales process in the horse industry. With Kentucky, Florida, California and other states to follow, all enacting legislation specifically directed at horse transactions, this company provides clients with the convenience and compliance that they need to ensure their horse sales close smoothly. At this stage, National Equine Escrow has also partnered with horse sales websites to offer services in connection with internet transactions.
