i've been riding most of my life. I've pretty much been there done that in the hunter jumper world from local shows to national finals. now i do a little of everything and if the urge to show hits i'll go. I also break, train and exercise racehorses and i retrain horses to go from the track to the show ring or as a pleasure partner. my favorite breed is the Thoroughbred. my favorite quotes come from the legendary George Morris and i must say i totally agree with him :D " Thoroughbreds are the best. They’re lighter, quicker and more intelligent. The best of any breed is the Thoroughbred horse, the best of that breed is better than any other breed.†and "Somehow, we have to get back to the horses we have in this country. There are tens of thousands of horses out there. There are Gem Twists out there. The American Thoroughbred is the best sport horse in the world. " In the heyday of U.S. show jumping, the vast majority of top horses had North American origins. The legendary Touch Of Class, For The Moment, Idle Dice and Jet Run all were American-bred Thoroughbreds who started out on racetracks. Gem Twist never set foot on a track, having been bred out of classic jumper lines by Frank Chapot, but he was an American Thoroughbred. Can you imagine finding the next show jumping legend on your local racetrack? :D
