About Me

I have been riding since I was 7 years old. I learned how to ride in Asheville, NC at Biltmore Stables under the instruction of Lisa Jolley and Lisa Maxwell. I got my first horse when I was 10 years old. His name is Johny Dun Dee. Barn name J.D. He is a red dun registered quarter horse gelding. His grandfather is the famous quarter horse Go Man Go. His bloodlines also go back to the famous throughbred Man O' War. While I was at Biltmore Stables I became a member of the Appalachian Pony Club. I competed in several Pony Club ralleys, knowdowns, and the pony club games competitions. I also took tests to move up in my rating as a pony cluber. J.D. and I also competed in several local and regional shows so that he could gain as much experience as possible since he was so green at the time. At Biltmore Stables I did eventing, hunter paces, and fox hunting. I eventually moved J.D. to Lone Pine Stables which was located in a different part of Asheville, NC. Lone Pine Stables was a dressage barn. J.D. and I trained under several dressage trainers and competed in training level dressage before moving to Roanoke, VA because my parents moved. J.D. and I then boarded at Centura Equine Center in Roanoke, VA. J.D. and I trained under Kristen Oakes and Allison Lafferty in hunter/jumpers disipline. I took lessons on several of their lesson horses. I also helped train some of the lesson horses for the lesson program at the barn. J.D. and I attended several clinics in VA including ones at Hollins University. I taught riding lessons for several years during the summer at the Centura Equine Center horse camp. J.D. was boarded at Centura Equine Center for several years before I ended up moving to Winston-Salem, NC after finishing nursing school. J.D. is now a pleasure horse and has been retired from the show ring and jumping. He now lives at Willowcreek Farm in High Point, NC.
