Had to buy sunscreen (aerosol spray) for the pony this spring. Vet said to just spray it right on him. Poor little appy bugger! There are flysprays that have sunscreen in them too. A fly sheet may help and of course switching to night turnout would help the most.
Adams has a very nice fly spray that has sunscreen in it. It works wonders and smells fantastic.
I've never heard of just spraying sunscreen on them...but I can see how that would work.
I have to put sunscreen on my horses nose in the summer.
a fly sheet would probably be the easiest way to go though.
I have never used the Healthy care care to prevent bleaching but when I groomed show horses it went on every horse every day before a good soft brushing to work it in and provided the most wonderful shiny coats. If you really want to prevent bleaching in the summer use a sun prtecting fly sheet which will also help keep the flies away.
Black as night works well but FYI it uses Select New Image as its base and it is cheaper. FancyFull Hair rinse in the beauty supply stores can help too.
