Just a thought: Has anyone ever used L'Oreal hair products on their horses? I have a friend that uses the coloured hair spray that leaves the hair feeling silky and soft, no tangles too. It's awesome, and a lot cheaper than regular horse products.

Never tried that, but it sounds interesting. Does it change the horse's color? We use Cowboy Magic detangler.

I have used baby oil to remove bird ox, and I have used Mane n' Tail on myself, but never L'Oreal, only because most products like that have chemicals in them that could be harmful to the horse.

Never used anything specifially human for my horse.
I'm going to be making my own fly spray this year with skin so soft, but that's about it.
My horse is allergic to weird things, so I have to be careful.

Just one request. If you are going to use something not cerated for horses on your horse PLEASE make sure to do a spot test to test for allergic reaction before applying it to the entire area. To do this simply apply the product to a few strands of tail hair or a small spot of the coat and follow directions of the products. Then wait 24 hours to see if there is a reaction. If there is no reaction you are good to go. If there is please call you vet immediately. Being on the show circuit we use lots of different human products on our horses for super secret shiny coats (even blue hair dye for white tails). But I always always test first to avoid sneding my horse into allergic shock or giving him hives.

Thanks for your answers....I know Cowboy Magic is awesome, but quite expensive here. I have been using Shine On from Mane and Tail, and it works great!
