On Sunday I was just getting back to my horse trailer after an 18 mile ride and I took a bad fall. We were galloping and my horse tripped my saddle slipped and I fell hard on my side. I fractured 2 ribs and it is kind of painful. I have a ride I really want to do on saturday, would I be crazy to go? anyone else ever ridden with fractured ribs?

Broken ribs....ouch! I would highly recommend to NOT ride because of the soreness.... Take it from someone who had a broken back!

You need to consult your Dr, but I think you would be crazy, ribs can cause alot of internal damage if they break off. I punctured a lung one time from broken ribs. Be careful one ride isn't worth risking furture rides. Hope you heal quickly.

holy moly.
I know I wouldn't be able to get back in the saddle until my ribs where healed.
I agree with Shannon, talk with your doctor, see what they say. More then likely they'll tell you to take a break.

How's your horse?

I think you should not go and let yourself heal. You don't want risking hurting yourself even more. Also if your horse was badly hurt would you still ride them? I guessing no, take care of yourself first before you go riding.

My horse is fine, she did not fall and just stood by me eating grass and looking confused. I was thinking if I took it really slow and took some pain medication that maybe I could do it? I have been looking forward to it for 2 months and this opportunity will not come again. I could always try and turn around if I was in to much pain? I cant imagine that I would take another fall as it was a freak accident. I guess I will see how I feel saturday morning and take it from there.

Maybe have someone wrap your ribs really well?
I personally wouldn't do it...
