There's been a lot of articles and debates going around about the Tennesse Walking horse trainer who got caught soring and beating horses.
There's also a video on youtube that shows what he was caught doing.
I think he got charged with 52 counts of animals abuse and is banned from the major TWH show for life.

I don't understand how people can sit back and defend what he did. Even vets and farriers will tell you that if you change shoes on a horse they will automattically do the high stepping they're beating and soring for. And it doesn't cause any pain. It just causes them to lift and use more rear end then front end.

What are your thoughts on this subject?

I just watched one of the videos. I want to puke. I can't believe people do this and defend it!! ugh
This guy, Jackie McConnell, beats these horses when they lay down, puts acid and whatnot on their legs, chains their legs, beats them in the head while on cross ties, everytime they flinch or move, he even shocks them with cattle prods when they flinch with a person on their back.
These poor horses. I hope he burns in hell.

It is maddening to watch any animal being abused by stupid humans. The Big-Lick Walking horses are probably one of the worst, I am sure all breeds have their dark secrets that trainers are willing to do to a horse to win or make the fast money. I have been around many of the Big-Lick Walking horses at shows and they are so sad, so many times I will look in their eyes and it is like they are pleading for help. The problem that I worry about with this case is that it is going to be swept under the rug and all made to sound like this is the only guy doing such a thing, well I can tell you that is a load of crap, every Big-Lick Walking horse has been sored in some way. Maybe not beat but sore and those shoes are so heavy that their poor legs are blown by the time they are 4 or 5, their hocks are blown from having to squat. The horse world that doesn't believe in this type of behavior needs to continue to stand up and we need to get laws passed to put a real stop to this not the silly laws that are already out there and impossible to enforce. A natural shod natural gait Walking horse is so beautiful to watch and wonderful to ride. Ok sorry so much for my soap box but I just get so mad about this kind of stuff.
