Im just curious people with mares. is it healthy for a mare who has not been bred in her life? its like a female cat if she keeps getting in heat and have not been bred its not healthy for her. is that true for a mare?

Never thought of it before...but it is a good question. I would think if that was the case having mares spayed would be a common practice instead of something that is rarely heard of. I know a lot of nice old mares that have never been bred and they are as healthy as expected for their age.

Lots of mares are never bred and they seem to do just fine.

No, mares don't have any issues if they are never bred. Most mares go without ever having a foal

it is compleatly normal for them::) i have had mares all my life and i have never had a problem, the only thing that i would worry about is if there is a stallion that keeps pushing her into heat without breeding and even keeping them apart will not help that much because they can smell and hear each other so... just somthing to think about:
)

I've had mares since I can remember and I never bred any of them and they were perfectly healthy horses.
