I just use a hoof pick.
I have a really nice one that can get into his deep pockets.
I only use the brush to get mud off the front of his feet.

I detest the ones with brushes....they just don't get all the dirt out. I like the nice sturdy metal hoof picks.

I use a hoof pick with a brush on it because I like my horses feet to be really clean and it helps him learn to hold his foot up longer because he is still young.

Ya know I always used to use a pick with no brush but recently I decided to go ahead and get one with the brush. It is a little awkward to handle at first but now that I am used to it I love it! :) When I am done getting all the packed in stuff out it is just a great way to finish each hoof off and get all the loose dirt out :)

Defiantly a hoof pick with a brush on it. If i don't use a brush i don't feel like i have completed the cleaning.
