Ok I have a rodeo queen competition in 2 weeks and so i have been working with my horse everyday to get him to be more collected and slow down but everything I do is not working.. I need help! Any suggestions will help! :) :)

my friend has the same issue, as she's also using her queening horse as a barrel horse.
One rein stops, has helped her emensely with this problem. Also taking off her spurs, as her horse is highly sensitive and reacts to the smallest shift in her body weight. She also stopped yanking on him, which was confusing him and making him pissed so he'd go faster instead of slowing down. She'd pull and kick at the same time(this is what she was taught). She's changed all of this and has worked on doing one rein stops at a walk and then a trot and is just now getting up to the canter(after a month).
