So after riding my horse today, I was thinking I need to get another saddle that would be a bit more pleasurable to ride in. What kind of saddle is good (western saddle) and I'm thinking of either Billy Cook or Circle Y brand, what type and brand would be good? I ride in a barrel saddle made from American saddlery 16inch seat. I need a 17inch I'm a heavy set person.
The circle Y's make a really nice trail saddle and their seats are very comfy.
Finding a nice 17in saddle is hard!!! That's the size I use. It took me a good 6 months to find the one I have now and it's not a name brand.
Tucker also makes good saddles.
I looked into the flex trees since I was having such issues fitting a saddle to my horse. I wasn't so concerned about myself at the time, since you can always get cushions.
I had a circle y park and trail....now I have a billy cook roper. If given the choice over I would not have sold the cirlce y...they are they cadilac of saddles. I like my billy cook but miss my circle y.
If you go billy cook...try it out if you can...sit in it. My circle y was a 16 and was perfect for me. So I assumed 16 inch for my billy cook and prefer my daughters 14 inch billy cook, my 16 inch billy cook is really too big for me.
